Grandon's Equestrian Center - About Us

In 1966 Ed and Lynn Grandon started Grandon’s Arabians in Phoenix, Arizona. They trained and showed their own Arabian and Half Arabian. In 1974 Ed and Lynn moved their home and horse business to Scottsdale on 120th Street.

Ed and Lynn raised their 2 children, Jason and Stacey, in the business with both Jason and Stacey starting showing as young children. Stacey followed in Ed and Lynn’s footsteps of training and showing and Stacey quickly advanced to the top of her classes. Ed and Lynn also sent Stacey to learn to train horses from the country’s foremost authorities on horses such as Chuck Kibler and the late Billy Harris.

Around 1980 the Grandon’s acquired the National Champion Arabian stallion, *Buszmen. This pure-Polish Arabian stallion would prove an excellent investment and secure Grandon’s Arabians as one of the top Arabian breeding operations in the area. Just take a look as you go thru the front entrance of Westworld and you can see the Grandon’s and *Buszmens presence in the horse industry.

Over the years Ed Grandon has held numerous offices and director positions in the various horse organizations including:
  • President of the Arizona Half-Arab Association
  • Vice President of the Arizona State Horseman’s Association
  • Vice President of the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona
  • President of the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona (1989-1999) and show chairman for the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show

To name just a few of the numerous awards Ed Grandon has received over the years:
  • 1990 – City of Scottsdale Award for contributions to the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show
  • 1992 – Arizona Horseman of the Year
  • 2002 – Lifetime Achievement Award by the Arizona State Horseman’s Association for his contributions to the horse industry.
Ed was President of the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona thru changing and difficult times for the horse industry.  During this period the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show changed to emphasize more of the amateur competitors, more corporate sponsorships, more commercial vendors, and secured a major long term lease at Westworld, the premier equestrian park in Scottsdale, Arizona.  This helped to push the Scottsdale Arabian Show past the difficult times and guarantee the show a continuing long-term existence in the Scottsdale area.

Also during these difficult times for the horse industry, the Grandon’s branched out from purely an Arabian horse facility and introduced other breeds into their very successful auctions, conditioning and training programs while keeping the Arabian as their breed of choice.

Over the years Ed has done consulting work, been brought in as a horse expert when companies and individuals have been involved in horse related disputes, and made appraisals of horses for legal and tax purposes.

In 1996 the Grandon’s changed their business from purely their family and their own horses by starting a first class boarding, training, conditioning, and lesson facility.

Currently the ranch maintains approximately 60+ horses.

Stacey Grandon continues the family tradition in the horse industry by selling, conditioning, training, and giving lessons.  Stacey’s riding students attend many of the shows in and around the Scottsdale area and are very competitive.

Jason Grandon also stays close to his roots in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area as one of the top real estate agents www.jasonsellsarizona.com.  Jason lso produces/promotes concerts (Artist Development Arizona) with toprecording artists like Darryl Worley, Keith Anderson, The Misfits, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds, just to name a few.

Currently, Grandon’s Equestrian Center, at the same location since 1974, has a very diverse clientele ranging from the casual trail rider to the very serious show competition rider competing on the Class A show circuit.  All horses at the ranch are provided with excellent professional care.
